Richard Valdez

Richard Valdez left his native Peru in 1997. 12 years later in 2009, he arrived in Sydney where he quickly gained a reputation around the latin music scene and for the past 7 years has been singing in a variety of formats from his one man show to 15 piece 1950s mambo big band.

Richard has honed his dynamic and engaging solo shows accompanying himself on the guitar and performing popular latin standards; romantic ballads and fiery dance favourites. As well as his solo act, he is currently lead singer for his trio Oriente Tres (this time playing piano), salsa bands El Orqueston and Malo Malo, latin soul outfit, Barrio Soul and mambo big band Mucho Mambo.

His role as “Piragua Guy” in the Broadway hit, “In The Heights”, with a SOLD OUT season at Sydney Opera House 2019, The Art House Wyong 2019 and Hayes Theatre co. 2018. 

Richard appeared as one of the judges in Channel’s 7 TV show, “All Together Now” known as “The 100”, in Australian TV October 2018.
